Day 17: Cold Water Therapy

I’ve been feeling persistently cold after my showers the last few days – probably because I need to actually eat something earlier to give my body some fuel to warm back up. But then again, the cold water exposure is supposed to spur brown fat conversion. I’ll go in for a body scan next week and see if my bodyfat percentage has changed since my last scan.

I went back to the gym yesterday and got a full lifting session in – which freagging left me feeling wiped out. I didn’t feel like I do after a heavy weights session – this was a lot deeper. The closest thing I can think of is Zenga – which incorporates a lot of deep breathing and Yoga flows as well as some other stuff. But the result is that you re-pattern a lot of movements and that taxes your CNS a lot – then you ramp down your nervous system with more breathing and active relaxation.

With weights, particularly squats, I was really focusing on breathing and muscle engagement in my right hip/quad since I’ve got some bad patterning from years of poor computer posture. I did a lot of deep breathing with bracing my core more like I was punching and it definitely helped my stability in my lift.

I also tried taking a hot shower right before bed – like hot to where it was uncomfortable and I think I slept better than I have for a while. I’ll have to try it again tonight and see how I feel.
