Day 16: Alcohol

Damn, that was a good workout. I did 5 minutes on the elliptical to warm up, then did 3 sets of Kickstand Squats, then did 3 sets of bench at 255lbs, then deadlifted 315lbs – I used a weight for the first time in a while and wow, that made 315 feel like 225 unbelted. But I’ve gotta get my posterior chain on my right to engage properly – it’s still feeling weak. I also did 3 sets of 20 shoulder taps, and finished off with 10 minutes on the elliptical.

Sparring last night was really good, going to start sparring every other week. While my right side is still weak, my kicks have gotten noticeably faster and stronger. We did some paddle kicks to warm up, and I pretty much kicked the paddle out of hands of the holders every time. Then I was pulling high-low roundhouses with no problem, I even pulled front kick to a high roundhouse with no problem. So yeah I think the squats/variations are helping.

I’ve still kept up with no sugar – outside of my pre-workout – but I don’t count that as it’s got a definite purpose. I tried a Cherry Coke Zero last night – I had a craving for something sweet. Those zero calorie drinks actually taste pretty damn good – honestly they’re not as sweet as corn syrup – which is nice.
