I got a flash of inspiration before my class tonight and took out a slightly used notebook, cleared out the used pages and actually wrote a lesson plan.
I decided I’m going back to a class format like I went through when I started 20 years go plus some:
- 10 jumping jacks
- 25 push-ups
- 25 sit-ups
- 10 plyometric laps
- Some mild stretching
- Basics
- Technique of the Night: Delayed Sword
Yeah the push-ups/sit-ups is nothing impressive, but my student is an older fat guy like myself – so we’re titrating.
Yeah had a really good sweat going before we got into basics.
Then we worked delayed sword and components of it – mostly settling into strikes. My explosive power has been coming along – I had to back off after he was getting hurt through the pad.
I think it was a damn good class – I’m a little bummed I’m only teaching once a week, but I’ve got a family and an already busy life.
We’ll see how the planning goes next week for a sparring class.
