I talked about building a 2nd Brain – an external warehouse for knowledge/media that I’m consuming. Yeah I think this is going to be my upcoming challenge. I’ve got to get some infrastructure in place before I make use of the idea – at least practically.
But first what the hell is a “2nd brain?”
I had the same thought at first, then before I even started into it – I thought it was simply a way to catalog useful data and thoughts. That’s the truth, but there’s also more to it. I’m starting to see how powerful the idea is.
I found an initial 12 step article and I just finished listening to an introduction an introduction on taking digital notes (something I’ve tried in the past). The introduction can be found here – it’s a little over an hour, and while it is an extended sales pitch for a program, the information presented gives a really great place to start (or at least it seems that way).
What I’m planning on doing at this point is to:
- Spin up a new Digital Ocean droplet
- Setup NextCloud on said droplet
- Set up Joplin
- Start setting up tools for capturing data and sending it to Joplin
From there I think I’m going to do a 30 day challenge of capturing and organizing information I come across.
I think this will be something crazy helpful when I get it integrated into my daily operations.
